The December 2012 Service Update for Microsoft Dynamics® CRM revealed some impressive new functionality, but we’re especially stoked about one thing. Starting in February, online users can leverage Microsoft Dynamics CRM on their iPads.

Here’s a look at what’s supported specifically for sales in the field: Contacts, Opportunities, Leads, Accounts, Charts, as well as both portrait and landscape views.

This means that sales can seamlessly update vital customer and order information by using their touch screen while on the road. Here are a few benefits that may result from having Microsoft Dynamics CRM directly on your iPad:

  1. Happier Customers: Having real-time information at your fingertips helps you serve customers better. Depending on how your sales structure is set up, more than one sales rep may be making updates for a particular customer. With Microsoft Dynamics CRM on your iPad, you can quickly check for updates in your car before entering the customer’s office.  You can also see what they ordered in the past and make appropriate suggestions for future orders, improving your cross sell and up-sell margins.
  2. Accurate Information: Because all the field reps are online while on the road, the home office has accurate information any time of day. If they need to pull a report soon after a huge sales meeting closed, it’s possible to get an accurate calculation because the sales rep will make updates before driving back to the office.
  3. Improved Productivity: Having a user friendly, touch screen interface to make updates in Microsoft Dynamics CRM will improve moral as well as productivity. Sales reps can make updates while the information is still fresh in their minds. This is motivating because they will be more confident knowing they have the right information next time around.
