Extended Release: Schedule Updates for New Features in CRM 2011

The CRM Mobility and cross-browser support has unfortunately been postponed from this summer (Q2) until the end of the year (Q4). Looks like everyone will have to wait to use CRM on their Smart Phones. It turns out that customer and partner feedback after testing in beta are responsible. The release of the CRM custom code validation tool has helped to identify potential issues with new web resources but it was decided that more time was necessary to ease the migration to this new release.

This merge of the expected Q2 and the Q4 releases allows for a better overall experience, according to Microsoft, because it combines the cross-browser support with user interface enhancements that are already planned for the Q4 2012 service update. CRM on-premise releases continue on regularly scheduled rollups. Rollup 10 is scheduled for August 2012 and includes SQL 2012 Support.

The Q2 service update release for SQL Server 2012 and CRM 2011  will remain is on schedule for July 19, 2012. This update will allow CRM 2011 to benefit from the high scalability, super performance and the enhanced BI capability of SQL Server 2012. Users will also now be able to bring external data in to CRM, perform custom actions or integration within the CRM online platform.
