Preview of What’s Included in the CRM 2013 “Vega” Release this Fall

In addition to covering the new product releases coming in the spring wave for Microsoft Dynamics CRM, attendees at Convergence 2014 in Atlanta, GA also got a taste of things to come in the Fall 2014 release - code named “Vega”. At the time of this blog post, these items are subject to change as "Fall" is quite a long time away in terms of software but these points give us a good sense of the areas Microsoft Dynamics is investing its time in.

Improvements to Server Side Sync

  • Sync multiple addresses and phone numbers
  • Mark Outlook data private to prevent sync back to CRM
  • Mark data read-only so a sync from Outlook doesn’t overwrite
  • Task & Appointment Assignments
  • Attachment sync

Organization Hierarchy

  • Visualizations
    • Tree view
    • Tiles with key information and actionable items
    • New query ability using the “Under” operator

Mobile

  • Improved offline for CRM for Tablets
    • Create records and sync from offline
    • Enhancements to data security
    • Multiple dashboards
    • Hierarchy modeling
    • Live notifications (potentially)

Business Processes

  • Branching
  • Invoking Actions

Calculated Fields

  • Defined via the UI
  • Available on forms, views, charts & reports
  • Native roll ups from child to parent

Once again, we have lots of great functionality to look forward to, much of which appear to be the result of feedback submitted to the Microsoft Connect site by partners and users. That just goes to show the importance of taking the time to get involved and make your opinion known.
