Does CRM 2011 or 2013 Work with Internet Explorer 11?

Sometimes when Microsoft Internet Explorer gets updated, some of the systems that connect with it, like Microsoft Dynamics CRM, suddenly don’t work.

The case with Internet Explorer 11 (IE11) is no exception.  If you are running Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 or Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2013, IE11 is NOT supported. (Microsoft’s way of saying it doesn’t play nice with other programs just yet.)

Never fear, there is a workaround.

We have found that most of these errors are solved by simply changing your Compatibility View Settings in IE 11. Here’s how:

Launch Internet Explorer, and on the Menu bar, click on Tools > Compatibility View Settings >

And then add your CRM URL in the Add This Website box:

And voila! All of your CRM/IE 11 problems will be resolved.  Still have questions? Just give us a call or drop us an email and we can help.  847-394-8820 ext 7, support@crestwood.com.

We have got new PC Clients - Lenovo I7-7700 with 16GB, Windows 10 and IE 11. When we work in CRM2011 together with IE11 - then suddenly Icons will lose their color, change place or simply IE will tell you that it has to close. Sometimes the dashboard in CRM 2011 will even go blank. When we close IE 11 and start up CRM again - then everything will work fine again for a while. This is especially happening when employees work quite fast. If we just close CRM and open again - it will not work - only if we close IE11.
We currently use Rollup 17 - I am beware of the fact that Rollup 18 has been released - but there is nothing in the release note regarding performance issues with IE11 and CRM2011
I have tried to add my domain to compability view so my CRM will run in that mode.
I tried to run my CRM2011 in Chrome - this works so far fine and response time is very good - but some buttons will not work in Chrome - which means my developer will need to fix all the bugs.
We can try to upgrade to CRM2016 - but this will take a lot of time and will be expensive, and I do not know if it will work then.
PC´s are patched up to date (24-07-2017) with newest Windows updates including IE11 versions
I have not yet tried to downgrade to Windows 7 and see if that will help - but due to security issues I would prefer to work on the newest versions of OS.
Please - any advices will be greatly appreciated  - why is all the products from Microsoft not responding properly together - CRM2011, IE11 Windows 10 -  Is it my new PC´s that are to fast so CRM2011 can not response within time and will give trouble to IE11 or do you have any suggestions / registry fixes in IE11 that can help me out here. Maybe some other settings in IE11 would help me out here.

Looking forward to your reply / help !

  2. Using on-premise CRM 2011.
Remote user in another domain has had no real issues until their IT changed their IE 11 browser settings. CRM access is ok but when attempting to run a CRM report the selection criteria are not visible nor is the run button?

    1. Hi Stephen,
In IE, try going to Tools>Compatibility View Settings and add in the URL for your CRM system. Our experts have seen issues where CRM acts as a mobile version if it doesn't recognize the browser version. Hope this helps. Let me know. Thanks.

  3. Hi Pat,
I know of a solution that worked for some folks to make the ribbon show up, where they changed the CRM url to have a lower case "m" in the word "main" instead of a capital "M". So, for example, "http://server.domain:port/ORG/main.aspx.
I assume you have the CRM url added to local intranet zone.
Are you on the latest Windows update (for those affected users) and the latest SQL Server update? Those might help.
And, If you’re using IIS 8, make sure to go into the IIS Manager > Configuration Editor then select system.web\caching\outputCaching, set omitVaryStar to True and click Apply. This can speed things up.

    Hope this helps,
    Donna

  4. Hi, we are running CRM 2011 ion premise and just now updating a lot of our machines to IE11 and having a lot of problems with CRM. Specifically slow performance and the ribbon bar is not always displayed. I have RU18 installed, and have checked all the IE settings, (Compatibility, F12/settings etc. ) Can anybody point me in a direction for help?
