Custom Mobile Document Uploader Built with the Microsoft Power Platform Empowers Nonprofit Staff in the Field
Each and every year, LifeWorks advocates for thousands of families and youth facing some of life’s greatest challenges, including homelessness, trauma, and abuse. By providing these individuals with the support they need, LifeWorks empowers families and young people on the path towards self-sufficiency.
In the past, AKA has worked with LifeWorks to implement our Social Services Case Management for Nonprofit Organizations system, helping LifeWorks to better manage a massive amount of data in a more user-friendly, accessible way. As a result of this improved data processing, LifeWorks can better support its employees in the field as they work with clients and track client progress.
Once this system was in place, however, there was another issue that needed AKA’s attention. Up until that point, LifeWorks staff members weren’t using a cohesive, uniform approach to uploading client information into Dynamics 365 CRM. While the processes they were using were HIPAA compliant, they were far from streamlined -- and what’s worse, they weren’t mobile friendly. Some staff were actually using non-HIPAA compliant mobile apps, which brought with it some amount of risk.
Improving Client Services with the Microsoft Power Platform
AKA identified a straightforward solution: using the Microsoft Power Platform, we managed to develop an easy to use, HIPAA compliant mobile solution that enabled LifeWorks staff to quickly and securely upload client information into Dynamics 365 CRM. LifeWorks no longer has to worry about individual staff using a non-HIPAA compliant upload method. Instead, they can now be assured that their staff are using a uniform, organization-wide method that saves time and eliminates risk.
How the Power Platform Empowers Nonprofits Like LifeWorks
The Microsoft Power Platform is particularly well suited to providing nonprofit organizations with efficient, affordable app solutions.
The Power Platform is comprised of three different tools: Power Automate (formerly Microsoft Flow), Power BI, and Power Apps. When designing the Power Platform, Microsoft’s goal was to provide organizations with the means to quickly and easily build custom apps and manage their data, without the need for advanced developer knowledge. Power Automate, Power BI, and Power Apps can each work independently, but they’re particularly powerful when combined. The Power Platform is capable of offering organizations like LifeWorks custom app and data management solutions at a fraction of the cost of traditional software customization.
How does the Power Platform manage this? Microsoft built the Power Platform on the secure, Azure Cloud-based Common Data Services for Apps (CDS). With the simplified data schema provided by CDS, the apps built with the Power Platform can integrate seamlessly with both Microsoft applications such as Dynamics 365 CRM as well as third-party apps.
Simply put, the Power Platform enables organizations to implement the solutions they need on any budget. Best of all, apps built with the Power Platform can be developed around existing software systems, meaning that there’s no need to change CRM solutions or switch to a new software platform.
Improve Efficiency and Reduce Error with the Microsoft Power Platform
Is your nonprofit organization struggling with clunky workarounds? Are your staff members piecing together solutions on an individual basis, rather than relying on standardized, organization-wide processes? The Power Platform can help!
