Many organizations rely on customer relationship management systems to store data, track interactions, and support reporting. However, even with strong systems in place, teams often struggle to turn insight into action. In New Dynamic’s work with enterprise Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement environments, this gap often comes back to disconnected processes, inconsistent data, and unclear ownership rather than a lack of AI capability. As a result, work can still feel reactive, with manual processes and users spending time searching for answers rather than engaging directly with customers.
Microsoft is addressing this challenge by introducing Copilot and Agent-based capabilities across its Dynamics 365 CE business applications. In doing so, these tools embed AI directly into everyday workflows and help teams act on information at the moments it matters most. Microsoft uses the Frontier Firm concept to describe organizations that combine human expertise with AI agents and digital labor to expand capacity, improve decision-making, and redesign how work gets done.
What It Means to Operate as an AI-First Frontier Firm
Becoming a Frontier Firm is not about adopting artificial intelligence for its own sake. Instead, it is about enabling teams to move from awareness to action with less friction. In Microsoft Dynamics 365, this shows up through:
- Copilot experiences that provide guidance in context
- Intelligent Agents that evaluate patterns and assist with routine work
- A shared data foundation that connects sales, customer service, field service, and marketing
When teams embed intelligence into daily work, they spend less time managing systems and more time delivering value to customers and the broader organization.
Where Copilot and Agents Deliver Practical Impact
Microsoft Dynamics 365 Sales now includes several agents aimed at different parts of the sales process. Sales Qualification Agent can research leads, evaluate fit, prepare outreach, and, depending on its configured mode, engage prospects before handing qualified leads to sellers. The Sales Research Agent helps sales leaders and operations teams explore complex questions using D365 Sales data and connected business information. Sales Close Agent, currently in preview, is designed for high-velocity, lower-complexity sales scenarios where automated follow-up and guided buyer engagement can help move transactions forward.

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Customer Service Agent capabilities help teams improve consistency, quality, and scale. One example is Quality Evaluation Agent. It can automatically assess Customer Service cases and Contact Center conversations against supervisor-defined evaluation criteria, assign quality scores, and surface coaching or compliance insights. Email evaluation is also available in preview, so organizations should confirm channel availability and licensing before planning production use. As a result, it reduces the manual effort traditionally required for quality reviews. This allows service leaders to improve outcomes while maintaining visibility into performance.

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Field Service also includes Agent-driven capabilities designed to support organizations with field operations. The Scheduling Operations Agent, currently in preview, helps dispatchers optimize technician schedules by considering bookings, resource requirements, availability, configured goals, and operational constraints. Because the capability remains in preview, organizations should evaluate its limitations and production-readiness requirements before including it in a live scheduling model. When combined with Copilot, field teams gain clearer visibility into work orders, asset history, and customer context before they arrive on site.
Microsoft provides on how the Scheduling Operations Agent supports field service planning and execution.
Dynamics 365 Customer Insights – Journeys is also moving beyond AI-assisted content creation toward more adaptive, agent-supported engagement. Current and planned capabilities include Journey Creation Agent, Outreach Optimization Agent, Copilot-powered conversational text messaging, and centralized oversight through D365 AI Hub. Together, these capabilities help marketing teams create journeys, optimize timing and engagement, and coordinate customer interactions across Marketing, Sales, and Service. Some of these capabilities remain in preview, so teams should verify availability before including them in production roadmaps.

A Unified Platform That Makes AI Practical
New Dynamic consistently sees Copilot and AI agents deliver the most value when they are built on a connected, trusted D365 Customer Engagement and Power Platform foundation. Without this foundation, even advanced AI features struggle to deliver consistent value. Microsoft Dynamics 365 CE, powered by Microsoft Dataverse, provides:
- A unified customer data model across CRM applications
- Enterprise-grade security and governance
- Native extensibility through the Microsoft Power Platform
This foundation allows organizations to adopt artificial intelligence capabilities confidently and incrementally. Microsoft is also positioning D365 Customer Insights – Data as a grounding layer for AI agents by providing unified, enriched customer profiles that agents can use across Marketing, Sales, and Service. This reinforces the larger point. AI becomes more reliable when customer data, permissions, identity, and business processes are governed across a connected platform.
