2019 is coming to an end, and it is time to look back at the new features of Dynamics 365 introduced this year.
We picked our five favorite features, do you agree with our choice?
#1
Dynamics 365 Sales - Microsoft Teams integration
Microsoft Teams is only two years old, but it is already Microsoft’s fastest-growing application in its history. The active user base was already at 13 million in July 2019 (whoa!). The bulk of the user base comes through paid subscriptions from Microsoft Office 365 users.
The two most requested features from this vast user base were:
- integration with other Microsoft software, namely Outlook,
- ability to create private channels and pin channels in the Teams client.
A new “Share to Teams” button will be available in Outlook early 2020, and the integration with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Sales has now arrived.
Dynamics 365 for Microsoft Teams integration enables users to efficiently work with Dynamics 365 customer information and share files directly from Microsoft Teams.
A SharePoint site is automatically pre-created for each Team and files are uploaded to this SharePoint site (via Teams or directly). For each channel, a dedicated SharePoint folder is created. In each team channel, you can link one or multiple Dynamics 365 records. When D365 records are linked to a team channel, the team channel documents are visible also in Dynamics 365.
For users who wish to ensure the permissions of the documents in SharePoint match the privileges in Dynamics, the third-party tool

Dynamics 365 Commerce
Starting in October 2019, Microsoft Dynamics will have a new business process application. Built on the proven Dynamics 365 Retail capabilities, this new app delivers a comprehensive omnichannel solution that unifies back-office, in-store, call center, and digital experiences.
#3
Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations - Cancel bank reconciliation
Bank reconciliation can be tricky, so Fianance and Operations users welcome any added flexibility in that area. When using simple bank reconciliation, if users need to start the reconciliation process again, they now can cancel bank reconciliation.
#4
Dynamics 365 Sales - Business card scan
Business cards are commonly handed out at meetings, then often lost or misplaced. With this new option, you can scan business cards can via mobile or web. The scanner will parse the card for relevant information and automatically update respective fields in the system. The feature also allows users to configure alternative fields to populate.
It is important to note that this business card scan feature is only available in the EU and US regions.
#5
Dynamics 365 Finance and Operations - User sessions’ timeouts
To provide a better experience, users will see an alert before sessions end due to inactivity. The idle timeout for Finance and Operations currently defaults at 60 minutes. After that inactivity limit the user session used to be terminated with no forewarning. This meant unsaved changes were then lost. With this new feature, users will be notified 3 minutes before their sessions are terminated. Moreover, users can reconnect before the session is ended.
