Microsoft Dynamics 365 Price Changing in October

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Pricing Change OctoberMicrosoft is changing the pricing and licensing of Dynamics 365 on October 1, 2019. NOTE: THIS WILL IMPACT ALL CUSTOMERS ON DYNAMICS 365 ONLINE

I have been in the partner channel for Microsoft CRM, now called Dynamics 365 for over 16 years and I can tell you one thing for sure - absolutely no company uses more than 30-40%% of the features of Dynamics 365 or any other CRM system. Something else I can tell you, you are paying for 100% of the features within your license. Think about it, I bet you use Lead (maybe), Account, Contact and Activities (if you are really good).

If you are stellar you are using Opportunity and Cases, maybe Marketing. Most all other usage is of custom entities and functionality built for your specific business. One of the reasons is that it is complex enough to get just these main foundational items well adopted, most don't make it very far beyond those core use cases.

Well, Microsoft has known this for a long time and is reacting to this by changing the licensing and pricing of Dynamics 365 to make it more ala-carte and let customers subscribe to what they need.

What's going away? Plan licensing is going away October 1st (Customer Engagement Plan, Unified Operations Plan)

What's New? You will now be required to select a base application license (like Sales Enterprise) and attach additional licenses (like Customer Service)

How will the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Price Change impact you?

It depends... it WILL impact you it just depends on when your renewal date is. At your renewal, you will need to transition to the new licensing and prices. It also depends on the functionality and use cases for each user.
