Important changes are coming in Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement version 9! Microsoft has outlined them
Custom functionally may need to be updated by your Partner or CRM Admin.
Specifically, I’d like to highlight the deprecated code coming with this release. Both CRM Admins and Developers should be aware of the deprecated client APIs. Microsoft has deprecated several Xrm client API calls after restructuring the Xrm object model to enable developers to use the same code regardless of the context or client. The client refers to the web browser or the new Unified Interface.
Developers use these client APIs to perform real time form manipulations such as:
- Obtaining the current logged in user to check if they can perform a certain action
- Alerting end users of an important message regarding the customer record
- Auto opening entity forms and web resources for end users
Over the years, we’ve had the pleasure to assist many customers with various Dynamics 365 upgrades. To ensure a smooth upgrade, we always recommend setting up a Sandbox environment to test in before it’s released to Production. For Dynamics 365 Online customers, Sandboxes are free to create with your subscription!
