Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online for iPad FAQs

Last week, I wrote a blog post entitled,” Improved Dynamics CRM Online for iPad Functionality Helps Salespeople Work on the Go.” Click here to read it in its entirety.  It covers several of the improvements Microsoft recently made to Dynamics CRM Online’s user interface to help sales professionals easily access the key CRM features they need to get the job done when they are on the road.

Now, I’d like to follow up with answers to a few general, but frequently asked questions about Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online’s latest iPad update.

Q: Can all Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online subscribers access the system on an iPad?

A: In order to use Dynamics CRM online on an iPad, your company must opt-in to the new user experience.  To do this, click “Settings” --> “Administration” in the left hand menu. This will bring up the product update page. Scroll to the bottom of it and click “Update.” See the screenshot below.

Q: Which iPad models is Dynamics CRM Online compatible with?

A: Microsoft Dynamics CRM works on all iPads except the iPad mini, as long as you are using iOS 6 or later.

Q: What components are accessible when accessing Dynamics CRM Online on the iPad?

A: These key CRM components are available to iPad users:

  • Dashboards
  • Entity grids
  • Activity Feeds
  • New Forms for these records:
    • Contact
    • Opportunity
    • Lead
    • Account

Q: Does this latest Dynamics CRM for iPad update support Lync?

A: No. Lync must be accessed via Internet Explorer. Therefore, it is not available on the iPad.
