Pros & Cons of CRM 2011 Polaris Release Process User Interface

The past week, Microsoft released its December 2012 Service Update (dubbed "Polaris") for Microsoft CRM 2011 Online. This release has added great new functionality across the board!

After review of the new release, we've laid out some pros and cons of the new Polaris user interface:

Pros

  • The minimalistic interface appears cleaner with the abscence of the ribbon and left navigation minimized
  • Presents a more visual picture of your sales and services processes by putting objectives at the top of the page
  • Process flows are very easy to customize for non-technical users

Cons

  • No support for JavaScript in the form OnLoad and OnSave events or the OnChange event for fields
  • Can only create tasks and completed phone calls from within the record
  • Cannot create related records (Cases, Opportunities, Quotes, etc…) from within an Account or Contact and use the existing data mapping functionality
