Microsoft has recently announced significant new capabilities for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 and Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online to be delivered in the upcoming service update slated for Q2 2012. This is in keeping with plans to release new functionality bi-annually in spring (Q2) and fall (Q4) each year. A major focus of this round of enhancements is mobility and includes the release of the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Mobile product as well as support for multiple browsers on additional operating systems for the web client.
Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 Mobile combines a cloud-based service with device-specific applications to provide the full breadth of Dynamics CRM functionality (including dashboard capabilities) to users on their mobile devices. Supported devices include Windows Phone, Apple iPhone, Google Android, RIM Blackberry, and Apple iPad.
Microsoft Dynamics CRM Mobile is centrally managed by administrators and configurations are published only once for a range of device types. Like Dynamics CRM, multiple profiles can be configured for different roles in order to tailor and optimize each user’s mobile experience. Administrators can remotely wipe the CRM data from individual mobile devices (should the need arise) providing security to the organization. Microsoft Dynamics CRM Mobile will be offered at $30 per user per month to both Online and On-Premise customers and companies can choose which users they wish to enable for mobile.
In addition, the Q2 2012 Service Update for Microsoft Dynamics CRM 2011 and Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online will provide native support for additional browsers on additional operating systems! This is a much requested enhancement and will enable even more users to harness the productivity of Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online. Supported browsers will include Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, and Safari. Supported operating systems will include Windows, Macintosh, and iPad.
These exciting mobility enhancements are slated to be available to customers in the second quarter of this year. Additional enhancements planned include rapid view forms, further extension of activity feeds functionality in social collaboration tools, industry solution templates, support for SQL Server 2012 including enhanced business intelligence capabilities, additional certifications for Dynamics CRM Online to meet regulatory requirements, and custom developed workflow activities for Dynamics CRM Online.
