Have you been frustrated by the inability to extend your CRM out to a portal for your customers due to high cost and limited functionality in your current product? The ability to do so is becoming more and more important to companies who wish to provide a self-service site to their customers. Companies who work with distributors, contractors, suppliers, or in relationship models are also discovering the need for this functionality. Microsoft offers this functionality through a product called External Connectors, which is described by Microsoft as follows: “The Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 External Connector enables customers to extend Microsoft Dynamics CRM to their external users such as customers, partners, suppliers, and end users who access a copy of the server software (for which a license was acquired), through any application/graphical user interface (GUI), other than the Microsoft Dynamics CRM client.“
Microsoft has created CRM Accelerators to demonstrate how companies can use the Web as their portal. Accelerator examples include eService and Event Management, which allow customers, vendors, distributors, and/or suppliers to create, update, and view information pertinent to their specific needs. The External Connector license provides unlimited connections to a portal of choice, which is all that is needed to utilize the services.
This license allows use of a variety of different applications, such as Microsoft SharePoint (GUI), to build a bridge between customers, partners, distributors and/or suppliers using your CRM databases. This functionality will significantly increase ability to build better relationships, free up internal resources, and gain higher customer satisfaction ratings for providing quick and easy access to needed information. To stay ahead of the game (especially in today’s economy) companies must be constantly engaged in finding ways to offer advanced and efficient customer service.

A CRM makes sence when you use a CRM system For your industry.
I think that industries where you have a huge sales force team like pharma, banking etc must use a specific CRM solution.
I am a SFE manager in a Pharma organization and I use Sales Vision Pharma CRM from this organization http://www.media-soft.info/ .
Now we will switch to the new iPad solution from tham, but you must know that generic solutions like Microsoft or SalesForce are rally not good for a industry with a huge sales force.
Wish all the best and keep going with such great articles!
I can't tell why alexa sent me over to your blog but I can say I have become more or less fascinated by the information you have aggregated together. How many week did it take to end up with this many users hitting to your site? I am very new to this web site stuff.
